Using an upsell is a proven technique to improve your
sales and profits. I'm sure you've seen it in action, but may have
not recognized it. For example, if you've bought a suit I'm sure
that after the suit was picked out the sales person, or an
assistant, suggested a shirt to go with it and a tie and a belt and
so on. After you've spent several hundred dollars on a suite $20 or
$30 for each of the accoutrements is very small compared to the
original sale.
This has been used by retailers for years as a way to improve
profits. As a matter of fact, the margins on the upsell items may be
substantially higher than the profit margin on the original sale. |
