Your information and your customers' is secure
Everyone's concerned about Internet security today. We've all heard the
tales of sites being broken into and credit card numbers and the like
being stolen and compromised.That's why we've taken many steps to
secure eCOMpal with the latest security tools.
- When orders are being taken, we use secure pages (SSL) when we are
gathering sensitive information. This is the same technology and the
same level of security that is used for online banking.
- Our servers are located in a secure co-location facility, at
Hurricane Electric. The building and computer room are secure. In order
to access our computers we have to check in with a person who verifies
our identity. The computer room is further protected by an electronic
badge system that only allows authorized entry.
- We actually have two servers there. One is the web server that shows
all the pages and is accessible from the Internet. This is where all the
web pages you see for the shopping cart and your eCOMpal back office are
generated. This is the server that has the Secure Certificate to protect
sensitive information that's being sent over the Internet.
- The second server is our data server. All our information is stored
on the data server. It's NOT accessible from the Internet.
- In addition to having a separate server, sensitive information, like
credit card numbers, are encrypted before they are stored on the server.
This means that in the extremely unlikely event that someone is able to
access the data server they will not find credit card numbers, and the
like, available for viewing.
- There are really three servers at our co-location. In addition to
the two mentioned above there is one that's just sitting there doing
nothing. It's there to replace either of the other servers in the event
one of them stops working. We can switch servers in a matter of a couple
of minutes. This means that when something fails, which doesn't happen
very often, we, and you, will be back in operation in the shortest
amount of time. Over the last two years we've had a record of 99.99% up
time.
What this means to you is that your data is secure. You can be confident
that no unauthorized people will have access to your information.
