Internet Link Strategy - Three Way Links
You can improve your link popularity using three way links without any
"theoretical" penalty for direct link exchanges with reciprocal links.
Many web sites, including this one use reciprocal links with other web sites
as a way of generating or improving their page rank. Some argue that reciprocal
links are dead and that Google in particular, discounts them. That may or may
not be true.
One way to avoid the "trap" of reciprocal links is to work with linking
partners that have more than one site or are willing to link to another site.
Let's assume I'm site www.a.com and you're
site www.b.com and we find a third partner that
has site www.c.com We would set up a link
structure such that A has a link to B, B has a link to C,
and C has a link to A.
If one or both partners have multiple sites, then it makes this quite easy.
Coordinating three different partners can be more challenging.
One of the potential challenges with this approach is that there's a level of
trust required. A has to trust that B will link to C and C will link to A.
Unfortunately, there's no software that I'm aware of the will do a link
validation in this environment.
Trust issues aside, this is a very powerful way of setting up your linking to
avoid any potential, current or future, for penalties or lack of effectiveness
of cross linking.
